District 23

Sen. Russell Prescott, a Republican, was first elected to the New Hampshire Senate in November 2000.

Prescott serves as chairman of the Executive Departments and Administration Committee, and as vice chairman of the Insurance Committee, and is a member of the Environment, and the Energy and Economic Development committees.

Prescott is a small-business owner and mechanical engineer. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of South Florida.

The senator lives in Kingston with his wife, Susan, and their five children. In his leisure time, he is a numismatist, a collector of U.S. coins. He is the only senator who holds a U.S. patent for a device that he developed which removes radon, MtBE and other gases from water.

As an active business owner and member of the community, he has contributed to many civic causes and programs, including the YMCA in Kensington; the Habitat for Humanity in Exeter; and the Senator's Cup Road Race, a cross-country marathon in Rockingham County that benefits the Boy Scouts.
