Senator Andre' Martel
District 18

Sen. André "Andy" Martel was first elected to the New Hampshire Senate in November 2002. Previously, he served for two terms as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

Martel serves as chairman of the Public Institutions, Health and Human Services Committee. He is a member of the Transportation Committee and the Insurance Committee and is also the liaison senator to the House of Representatives.

His legislative priorities include issues concerning health care, prescription drugs, education, insurance reform and the New Hampshire/Canadian Trade Council.

Martel was the "Franco-American of the Year" in 1999. He is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University and received certificates from Cornell University and Princeton University. He is a member of the Senior Auditor Society and a certified member of the Association for Production and Inventory Control..

Martel is a lifelong resident of Manchester and has been active in community affairs, including service as chairman of the Community Action Group to Save Catholic Medical Center, as a member of the Knights of Columbus, and as a member of the Association of Canadian Americans.

Martel and his wife, Simone, have five children.
