Senator Jane O'Hearn
District 12

Sen. Jane O'Hearn was first elected to the Senate in November 2000. Prior to running for the Senate, O'Hearn served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1994 to 2000, where she was chairwoman of the Education Committee from 1997 to 2000.

O'Hearn, a former teacher and tutor, is chairwoman of the Senate Education Committee. She also serves on both the Internal Affairs, and the Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committees.

O'Hearn, a Republican, earned a bachelor's degree from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass. Her legislative priorities include education funding and accountability, and affordable health care.

She and her husband, Robert, have two children, and reside in Nashua.
